Mid Michigan Safety Council Meeting Minutes June 18, 2008 2:00 P.M. Attendees: Caren Pankow, Kenitha Severn, Eldon Sprague, Ed VanAvery, Archie Hoard, Tarah Kile, Sachin Shivashankar. Minutes from May were reviewed and approved. No comments or changes were made. Treasurer’s Report: Michelle Jones was absent. Ed VanAvery stated that Jones is unable to continue as treasurer at this time. Cheri Umbarger has agreed to step in as interim treasurer until after the Expo. VanAvery reported that there is $3,025 in the account. Old Business: Discussed Expo Matrix. Three more speakers have been confirmed: Mike McKay will conduct Aerial Lift training, officers Beno & Wing will conduct Rape Aggression Defense for Women I & II, and Renosol will conduct Forklift training. VanAvery asked if anyone knew of a trainer for the 2 Hour Asbestos Awareness session. It may be canceled if an instructor cannot be found. Tarah Kile stated that Leann Bishop of GLSTC can conduct the following sessions: LockOut/TagOut and Machine Guarding. VanAvery asked all instructors to submit to him a short narrative describing their session(s). He also stated that the Expo would have grab bags again this year; therefore, members were asked to bring their inserts, etc. GLSTC has agreed to be a vendor; Mosaic may sponsor some or all of the lunch costs. Discussed vendor registration fee of $35 and VanAvery stated registration via the website is open. Discussed advertising and cost range of approximately $500-800. Ideas for various advertising media to be utilized were discussed along with target audience. VanAvery opened the website asking for comments and suggestions; none were given. New Business: Continue to recruit active participants and host sites for future meetings. Round Table: No comments made. Meeting Adjourned: 3:20 P.M.
