    • Bob Carrier, MIOSHA www.michigan.gov/miosha

    • Bob Carrier was appointed to the MIOSHA Consultation Education and Training Division in 1989 as a consultant specializing in general industry standards in the mid-Michigan area.  Bob brings with him his previous experience as the Safety Administrator at Allied Signal Aerospace Company.  His experience includes safety program development, safety training, and workers’ compensation administration.  Bob recently chaired the Division Plastics Committee where updated training was developed for the industry.   

      A graduate of Ferris State University with a B.A. degree in Occupational Safety and Health, and a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, Bob offers a diversified background in safety training and consultation services.

    • Topic Speaker:  Sue Kesterson from FRG Corp.  www.frgcorp.com

      Sue has a background in operations management and education. Her work experience has required effective communication with, and through people, at all levels and has encompassed the planning, organization, development, implementation, and supervision of complex programs and special projects. She is a certified American Red Cross and American Safety and Health Institute instructor, and instructor trainer, in Workplace Safety Training (includes CPR/AED, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens) and is a State certified instructor for asbestos abatement contractor/supervisor training. Sue also provides technical training in a large number of OSHA (MIOSHA) related topics.  Sue is a member of the American Society for Training and Development, is a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and has done volunteer work for the Special Olympics. She has a personal dedication to customer satisfaction, performance based training, and her clients return on investment.

      Overview: This course is intended to familiarize students with regulatory requirements for the installation and use of fixed and portable ladders. Students will review the minimum requirements for the construction, care, and use of common types of ladders in order to insure safety under normal conditions of usage. Types I, II and III will be covered as well as their inspection and maintenance. Design considerations such as rung specifications, cleats, pitch as well as fastenings, load requirements and design stresses will also be covered.

    • Cindy Zastro: MIOSHA  www.michigan.gov/miosha

    • Cindy L. Zastrow was appointed to the MIOSHA Consultation Education and Training Division in 2004 as an Industrial Hygienist, bringing with her over 11 years of experience in Safety, Health, and Emergency Services.  Based near Saginaw, Cindy provides industrial hygiene services for the northern part of Michigan as well as the Upper Peninsula.

      Cindy has her B.S. and B.F.A. degrees from Central Michigan University, and her M.S. degree in Forensic Toxicology from the University of Florida.  She is also a certified Firefighter I and II, licensed EMT, HAZMAT Technician, NFPA Fire Inspector I, CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor, and Medico Legal Death Investigator.  Cindy is a member of the Federal DMORT-WMD team, as well as serving on the Richland Twp. Fire Department.

  • Fire Extinguisher Training

    • Overview: This course is designed to familiarize students with portable fire extinguishers and their use in fire protections. Types of fires, extinguisher classifications, general principles of fire extinguisher use, extinguisher limitations, and the hazards associated with incipient stage fire fighting are covered. Students also review and discuss methods of notification, and risk assessments that evaluate fire size, evacuation path, and the atmosphere in the vicinity of the fire.

Individuals completing these courses will receive their T-T-T certificate that day!
